Supporting BC for 75 Years: Margaret Faulkner Horn ’50

Margaret Horn

Margaret Faulkner Horn ’50 has loved sports her entire life. She remembers coming home from elementary school, throwing down her books and running out the back door of her family’s house to play baseball or basketball on the playfield nearby. When the time came for college, her father encouraged her to follow her older brother, the late Charles Faulkner ’49, to Bridgewater College.

At BC, Horn studied history and played women’s basketball and field hockey. Among her fondest memories are the times she and a group of friends would pile into a Ford car driven by Robert Horn ’50 to watch the Eagles men’s basketball team compete against other colleges across the state. She remembers her friends teasing her to sit shotgun next to Robert; he eventually won her heart and they married the summer after graduation.

The Horns both built careers in education: Margaret as a professor and coach; Robert in higher education and K-12 administration. Over the years, the family enjoyed returning to BC to attend sporting events. They also made supporting BC a priority: Margaret has given to BC for 75 consecutive years, the longest of any donor.
