The Outstanding Senior Award in English was presented to Stephanie A. Brooks during the college awards ceremony at Bridgewater College.
The recipient is selected based on excellence in work performed in the English major.
Brooks is the daughter of Rice and Kristine Brooks of Waynesboro, Va.
Brooks is a member of the Philomathes Society, Bridgewater’s scholastic honor society; Sigma Tau Delta, an international collegiate English honor society; Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society; and serves as vice president of the campus chapter of Alpha Chi, a national scholastic honor society.
For the past three years, Brooks has served as a tutor in the Writing Center. She serves on the Student Senate executive board and is president of Eagle Productions, the student programming board.
Brooks is a four-year member of the Student Ambassador Association. She served as vice president for two years.
During the 2019 spring semester, Brooks completed student teaching at Buffalo Gap High School in Augusta County, Va., at the 10th-grade level.
Brooks graduated on May 4 and plans to seek employment in the teaching field.
