Members of the Bridgewater College Department of Music faculty will present a recital on Sept. 28 showcasing a variety of skills on a number of instruments, as well as vocal selections.
Bridgewater College music faculty will present a recital in the Concert Hall in the Carter Center for Worship and Music at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. The recital is free and open to the public.
Dr. Larry Taylor will open the recital with Prelude in C Major, BWV 547 by Johann Sebastian Bach on the organ.
Prof. Curtis Nolley, a tenor, will perform “La donna è mobile” from Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi, “Silent Noon” by R. Vaughan Williams and “Brother Will, Brother John” by John Sacco.
Prof. Richard Adams will perform “Beautiful Savior,” a piece he arranged, on euphonium. He will be accompanied by Bethany M. Newman, a senior music major from Dayton, Va., on the chimes and Taylor on the piano.
Dr. Vimari Colón-León will perform the first movement, “Pan et les bergers,” from La Flûte de Pan, Op. 15 by Jules Monquet on the flute.
Dr. Christine Carrillo will perform “Caprice” by Joseph Turrin on the trumpet.
Prof. Kyle Remnant will perform “Southeastern Rhapsody” by Frank Gulino on the trombone.
Prof. Lacey Johnson will perform Ballade No. 2 in F Major, Op. 38 by Frédéric Chopin on the piano.
Prof. Anthony Cincotta will perform Épitaphe de Jean Harlow, Op. 164 by Charles Koechlin on alto saxophone. He will be accompanied by Colón-León on the flute and Taylor on the piano.
Dr. Melissa Sumner Swisher, a dramatic soprano, will perform “Měsíčku na nebi hlubokém” (Song to the Moon) from Rusalka by Antoniín Dvořák.
Johnson and Taylor will serve as piano and organ accompanists.
