Six Bridgewater College students have received the college’s 2019 Summer Christian Experience Scholarship and will serve on a full-time basis during the summer months, working at a variety of church-related camps. Each student was awarded a $3,500 or $4,000 scholarship—depending on the number of weeks working at the camp—from the scholarship program, which is funded by the Bridgewater College endowment fund.

Receiving the scholarships are:

Amelia M. Gunn, a junior liberal studies major, from Cordova, Md., who will serve at Camp Mardela in Denton, Md.;

Clara  R. O’Connor, a junior family and consumer sciences major, from Mount Airy, Md., and Jackelina Letalugyang, a first-year English major with a minor in professional writing, from Luray, Va., who will serve at Shepherd’s Spring Outdoor Ministry Center in Sharpsburg, Md.;

Moran A. Pangle, a sophomore history and political major with a minor in philosophy and religion, from Staunton, Va., who will serve at Brethren Woods Camp and Retreat Center in Keezletown, Va.;

Carol-Anne L. Volel, a first-year business administration and French double major with a minor in economics, from Manassas, Va., who will serve at Camp Eder in Fairfield, Pa.; and

Tryphena Yakubu, a first-year health and exercise science major, from Dundalk, Md., who will serve at Camp Swatara in Bethel, Pa.

The Summer Christian Experience Scholarship Program, which was created by Bridgewater College to memorialize a number of outstanding church leaders, enables students to gain valuable experience and training in various forms of Christian ministry while providing useful service to church-related camps.
