Bridgewater College Honors Dafne Espinal Peña for Excellence in World Languages

Bridgewater College senior Dafne P. Espinal Peña was presented the Raymond N. Andes Award at the college awards ceremony.

Bridgewater College senior Dafne P. Espinal Peña was presented the Raymond N. Andes Award at the college awards ceremony.

The award, which honors a former chair of the college’s world languages and cultures department, is presented annually to the top student majoring in Spanish. The late Dr. Andes, a 1940 graduate of Bridgewater College, taught French from 1946 until he retired in 1983.

Espinal Peña, a senior biochemistry major with a minor in Spanish, is from Plainsboro, N.J.

She is a member of Alpha Mu Gamma, a national foreign language honor society, and serves as co-president of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society. She also serves as president of the Latinx Student Association.

Espinal Peña graduated on May 4 and will pursue an accelerated bachelor of nursing degree from Utica College in Utica, N.Y.
