Discovery and Exploration: Science and Math at B-C through the years

The Robert R. Newlen ‘75 & John C. Bradford Special Collections at Bridgewater College will display “Discovery and Exploration: Science and Math at BC Through the Years” from October 27, 2023, to April 8, 2024.

The exhibition showcases photographs and ephemera from the College archives and includes multiple views of BC science students, professors and technology throughout the 20th century. Artifacts on loan from Bridgewater College’s Departments of Engineering and Physics, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science, and Biology and Environmental Science, as well as artifacts preserved in the Newlen-Bradford Special Collections, will feature prominently in the exhibition. Vintage laboratory equipment, an old telescope, natural history specimens and historic computing artifacts will round out the showcase.

Special Collections Librarian Stephanie S. Gardner, Mackenzie Smith ’24 and Zach Watts ’24 co-curated the exhibition.

The exhibition is free to the public and shows on the lower level of the John Kenny Forrer Learning Commons during the hours that the building is open to the public: 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 9 p.m. on Sundays. Check the Forrer Learning Commons website before visiting for campus holidays and weather-related closings.
