Three Bridgewater College art student are the recipients of the Paul M. and Betty H. Kline Student Art Awards for 2023.
The award is presented to a rising junior or senior art major who has demonstrated significant growth and accomplishment in the study and production of visual art.
Willow Allen, a digital media arts and communication, technology and culture double major with a professional writing minor from Stanardsville, Va., is among the recipients.
Allen is a member of the Philomathes Society and Lambda Pi Eta, an honor society of the National Communication Association. She is also part of the Digital Scholarship Gurus, a team of technology and design proficient students who assist Bridgewater College’s campus in creating innovative website developments.
Isabelle Bauer, a digital media arts major from Moseley, Va., is the second recipient.
Bauer is a member of the Alpha Chi national honor society, the Philomathes Society and the Flory Honors program. She is also a member of the Bridgewater College swim team.
This summer, Bauer is serving as a multimedia intern for ColonialWebb’s marketing office. After graduation, she will pursue a career in digital media arts.
Leah Rogers, an art major from Winchester, Va., is the final recipient for 2023.
During her time at BC, Rogers had artwork displayed in the Bridgewater Student Show for 2023. After graduation, she plans to teach art at the secondary level. In the future, she hopes to pursue a master’s degree and career as a college art professor.
Paul ‘53, who died in 2006, and Betty Halterman Kline ‘55 are both Bridgewater College graduates and former College employees. He retired as professor of art in 1997 after 38 years on the faculty. She formerly served as dean of women and a psychology instructor.
