Through a new joint endeavor between Bridgewater College and Randolph College, Bridgewater College graduates with a coaching minor will be guaranteed one of three reserved spots in Randolph College’s Master of Arts in Coaching and Sports Leadership program (MACSL).
The two private colleges entered into this agreement for students interested in pursuing a career in coaching. Annually, graduates of Bridgewater with a coaching minor who meet the minimum admission requirements for the MACSL program at Randolph College will be guaranteed one of three spots. This opportunity enables Bridgewater College students to further their education while teaming coursework with practical coaching placements in the Lynchburg and surrounding areas.
“Providing an opportunity for our graduates to enhance their already sound coaching education through guaranteed acceptance into Randolph College’s MACSL is a wonderful opportunity for our young coaches to grow and become impactful professionals in their future careers,” said Dr. Barbara H. Long, Division Head of Professional Studies at Bridgewater College.
Interested students are strongly advised to attend an information session, held in the fall and spring semesters at Randolph College, and to apply early as the openings will be filled in the order of eligible applications received. Students admitted to the MACSL program through this agreement have the option of completing the program on campus or completely online. Bridgewater College has a National Committee for the Accreditation of Coaching Education (NCACE) accredited coaching minor. The College’s program was the first undergraduate program at a private, four-year liberal arts college to be accredited. Aimed at preparing competent and quality coaches, the Bridgewater program aligns itself with the NCACE Standards for Sports Coaches.
