Sarah Irvine, Director of Riding and Head Coach
Sarah Irvine is the director of riding
and head coach for the first intercollegiate riding team at
Bridgewater College. As a rider, Irvine was awarded the Martini Rossi
Rider of the Year and has won classes at the Washington
International, the Harrisburg National and Lake Placid. She was
awarded the ODAC Coach of the Year in 2007, has served as president
and board member of the Southwest Hunter/Jumper Association and as
trainer of the 2007 Child/Adult Grand Jumper Award winner for the
VHSA. She has been inducted into the SWVHJA Hall of Fame. In the
1980s, Irvine was part of the coaching staff at Southern Seminary
College (now Southern Virginia University) during its reign as the
IHSA National Champions. Irvine holds a master's degree in
education from the University of Virginia.
Ashley Tantawi-Mayes, Assistant to Director of Riding
Ashley Tantawi-Mayes graduated summa
cum laude from Bridgewater College. She is showing on the "A" and
local show circuit and has managed a large riding facility. Since
graduation, Ashley has been the assistant to the director. Together,
they have taken several students to the IHSA Nationals as well as to
SWVHJA, VHSA, and Oak Ridge Medal Finals.
Mimi Knight, Assistant Director of Riding for Recruiting
Mimi Knight graduated from Miami of
Ohio with a B.S in Health and Physical Education, and earned her M.A.
in Physical Education from Ohio State University. She is the advisor
to the Equitation Club and gives recruiting tours of our riding
facility. Additionally, she handles on-campus tours and attends
admissions open houses.
